Power Looms Industry is the largest self invested cottage industry of Pakistan. This industry is one of the most value-added and export-oriented sector of Textile Industry, providing 83 % share of cloth in total textile exports of Pakistan. It is also providing jobs to millions of Pakistanies. All Pakistan Cotton Power Looms Association (APCPA) which represents textile weaving units of Pakistan, is a registered trade body with the government of Pakistan and duly affiliated with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), the apex Trade Organizations of Pakistan.
In the decade of fifties the power loom . With the passage of time this industry spread over two hundred seventy five thousand power looms. Now this sector is consist of three types of looms i.e. Shuttle less Looms, Auto Looms & Conventional Power Looms. The largest portion of power looms is established in Faisalabad division which is also called the Manchester of Pakistan. More than one hundred seventy five thousand power looms are installed in this division and the balance are installed in Jhang, Hafizabad, Toba Take Singh, Multan, Jalalpur Jattan, Kasur, Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Tandu Adam, Hyderabad, Kamalia, Khushab, Karachi and Khyber Agency. Which are providing different size & type of cloth for export and country needs. Power looms industry is the key of other textile sectors. It is largest purchaser of Yarn from spinning mills and biggest source of supplying raw-materials to the Sizing, Processing and Garments industries.
The Power Looms industry is one of the most value-added export-oriented and labour-intensive sectors of Textile Industry in Pakistan. All Pakistan Cotton Power Looms Association (APCPA) was formally affiliated with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI). APCPA with its head Office in Faisalabad was registered with Federal Ministry of Commerce on 8th September 1987 under the Trade Organizations Ordinance 1961 and also registered u/s 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984 on 26th November 1988. This Association was granted fresh License # 120 by the Federal Ministry of Commerce/Director General Trade Organizations (DGTO) under new Trade Organizations Ordinance 2007 (LXXI OF 2007) as a Trade Organization. Now All Pakistan Cotton Power Looms Association is the sole representative association of Power Looms Industry in Pakistan.
The principal object of the association is to promote and protect the collective interests of those engaged in the manufacture of cloth by weaving units. And negotiate with the government to point out the bottleneck in the power looms industry and to suggest practical solution to the problems.
